Speaking Engagement: BC Association of Travel Writers Annual Symposium

We have been invited to present at the BC Association of Travel Writers Annual Symposium this Saturday. Here's the schedule:

Date:  May 28, 1- 4 pm
Location: Listel Hotel, 1300 Robson Street,Vancouver.
Fee: Members $20, Non-members $40; payable at the door.

Jett Britnell (one of Canada's most frequently published underwater photojournalists) & Kathryn Britnell a professional husband and wife diving photojournalist team who specialize in underwater photography, dive travel, and marine related subjects and stories. They will have a slideshow of their work and discuss getting published.

Jayne Lloyd-Jones or Liz Sperandeo of Spectacular Ink a travel industry PR specialist, whose clients include Echo Valley Ranch and Baddrutt's Palace Hotel in St. Moritz.  The focus will be on how they see the tourism industry, impact of the recession from the media / PR angle, the role of local travel writers, changes in expectations, how social media now plays a far more important role.

Carolyn Walton, member of the Travel Bloggers Exchange, will look at the role of travel blogging in our industry - tips on what to do/what not to do.

Ruth Kozak has been instructing writing classes for over 15 years. One of her specialties is travel memoirs. Learn how to truly capture the feel of a place, whether for your own personal diary or a published piece. If you fell in love with a place, if it changed your world or came at a particular time when your world was changing, learn how to draw the reader into your experience.
