The Shark Connection - Jett Britnell Presentation For The Underwater Archaeological Society of British Columbia.

Happy to confirm that on May 27th, 2015 I will be doing a presentation called, "The Shark Connection." Come discover where you can experience some rapturous shark diving and snorkeling adventures and learn why it is imperative that we protect these apex ocean predators from extinction.

The Underwater Archaeological Society of British Columbia’s Lower Mainland Chapter holds regular monthly meetings in the beautiful city of Vancouver. At each meeting the UASBC invites a new guest to give a presentation on various archaeological, exploration or diving topics. This occasion marks my 5th presentation for the UASBC. Hey, if this were “Saturday Night Live” I would now be in the SNL Five-Timers Club.

A Couple That Plays Together, Stays Together!

Our friend, Ken Kiefer, made these fanciful images of Kathryn and I during our September trip to Tiger Beach in the Bahamas. Check out Ken's work at: www.kenkiefer.com

Facebook Black & White Photo Challenge.

Both Kathryn and I received challenges. Here are the images Kathryn posted on Facebook.

Diving and photographing tiger sharks in the Bahamas is an absolute blast!!

Adams River Sockey Salmon Run.

During September and October, the quiet banks of Adams River, British Columbia (405km inland from the Pacific Ocean), becomes the scene of a natural miracle. This is when sockeye salmon make their way back to the gravel beds of the Adams River, the place of their birth, to spawn and die. 2014 was a dominate run year, so we went there this year to photograph some of this natural wonder. Here are some of the images we made.

Shark & Awe In The Bahamas.

“He (She) who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; their eyes are closed.” ~ Albert Einstein.

AIR FRANCES - Jett Britnell's Phantom 2 Quadcopter.

Some quick and dirty branding for AIR FRANCES. It somehow did not seem right to put this winged avenger to work without it. The GoPro 4 modification made to the gimbal today. (Thank you whomever invented the Dremel tool). All seems to be working fine. Hmmm... Britnell Manor is smelling delicious with the turkey in the oven. White wine is chillin'. Lot's of chores completed today. Tonight...some r&r time.

Get Up, Stand up!

Seems. I'm the lone underwater photographer in the distance in this picture. Reality was, there were several other shark divers in close proximity as we began to make our way to the boat ladder. Our talented friend, Ken Kiefer, made this image. I would dive with him anywhere, anytime. Mostly because, I think, I could out swim him if death was on the line. Ha ha ha. Anyway, check out his marvelous photography at www.kenkiefer.com. Love his work!

Never Say Never Again.

Never say never again. Kathryn had often said she would never dive with sharks. Well, here is quite literally a grab shot of Kathryn diving at Tiger Beach. Kathryn is the one kneeling on the sand. So proud of her and happy that she, like many others we know, are conquering their fears. So I dedicate this post to anyone who has ever told themselves, or was made to think by others, they can't do something. Yes, you surely can!

Throwback Thursday: A First For Everything.

August 1990: Obviously, I appear to be very happy on my first overseas Diving Magazine assignment in Vanuatu. Ended up with three cover shots from that trip. Yup, one must always travel with a good camera!

I have Bahamas on the brain this morning.

Made this sunset image end of day at Tiger Beach in March 2006 while out on a 10 day Bahamian shark diving safari aboard Jim Abernethy's Scuba Adventures vessel, M/V Shear Water. I figured it might make a nice background for a double page photo spread. Luckily, two different photo editors agreed.

Why I Think This World Should End. Paying It Forward!

Perhaps one of the best videos I've seen since, I dont know when, about humanity and the meaning of love. Put another way, the love you take is equal to the love you make. Share this one far & wide. If any video should have ever gone viral, this one is it!

Browning Passage HideAway Dive Resort Trip - August 17 - 23, 2014.

Ahhh, here we are with the boys from Milwaukee who graciously proclaimed that I was now an honorary member of “Team Zero!” The back-story to “Team Zero” is that one of their local Great Lakes dive charter operators dubbed them “Team Zero” because they always arrived at the boat prepared for some wreck diving and there were zero issues with them and their dive gear. All highly experienced wreck divers, it was so great to witness their enthusiastic reactions after every dive British Columbia’s Browning Passage. They were all totally blown away with the local marine life and its diversity. Good times!! From here on out boyz, know that you’ll always have a “Team Zero” member in British Columbia. Thanks again, guys, it was a trip! Will name everyone in order of appearance from bow to the stern - John de Boeck, Michael Kron, Mark Kolba, Cal Kothrade, Jason Grochowski, Jett Britnell, Dirk Wihelm, Steven Wimer II.

Beluga Whale Love in Churchill, Manitoba.

A snorkeling adventure trip with Andy Murch's Bigfish Expeditions yielded some nice beluga whale images. Awesome experience being in the water with these Canaries of the Sea.
